U-12 (Petite) Skills Development Program

The implementation of the Long Term Athlete Development Program, or LTAD, has made us all more aware of the stages of skill development for our young athletes. This saw the removal of the AA or Development Program for this age group in most leagues. The removal of this program also removed the opportunity of extra ice and skill development for interested athletes that the program had provided.

Advanced Ice Skills has developed a Skill Development Program for this age group for those athletes who are looking to improve learned skills as well as acquire new ones. This is a private program and is designed with the “Learning to Train“ guidelines in mind. Please see the LTAD info for full details. This is NOT a AA program, but rather a Skill Development Program. There are No Try-outs and all registered BCRA Ringette players in this age group are eligible to join. The only requirements are that the players want to participate, that they want the extra ice times and want to improve their Ringette Skills. This program is 70% skills and practice based and 30% Competition Based (Scrimmages). The program will be structured and progressive, it will be designed to ensure the participants are enjoying themselves and having fun.

The first year of our program was a huge success and all the participants improved their Ringette skills while having fun. We had weekly skill sessions on Sunday mornings in Port Moody, in addition to our skills sessions we participated in a few exhibition games. We are considering expanding our program for 2011 to include U10-Novice players. Please e-mail us if you are interested in securing a spot. The ice times and program details will be finalised in late September 2011 and begin in October 2011. E-mail us to be on our contact list for future detai
